ATLANTIC SEADUCKS
season: Late November-late January
Seaduck hunting the historic waters off New England is an exciting change of pace for many waterfowlers from across the country. The big water, rolling waves and changing tides of the Atlantic offer new challenges and scenery for both the serious collector or a hunter looking to expand their horizons with something new. Common species include Atlantic common eider, all three species of scoter (White winged, black, and surf), and oldsquaw (long tailed duck). Along with the seaducks, Atlantic brant and black ducks are also prevalent in the area for added hunts and new species. Hunts are conducted depending on the variables of weather, tides, and birds at the time, sometimes hunting from boats, and sometimes land based whether the shore or rock islands and outcroppings. Captains are USCG certified, with decades of experience on these waters chasing ducks. New England also boasts fantastic local seafood, from local lobster to clam chowder, to make your evening meals as exciting to look forward to as the hunt.
