Dutch Harbor, AK

SEASON:LATE DECEMBER- LATE JANUARY

Out past the end of the Aleutian peninsula, on the island of Unalaska, sits the port of Dutch Harbor.  The largest commercial fishing port in the US hosts the Bering Sea crab fishing fleet made famous by Discovery Channel's "The Deadliest Catch" reality show, and fascinating WWII history with abandoned bunkers sitting atop oceanside mountains.

As far as duck hunting, Dutch Harbor offers plentiful populations of white winged scoter, black scoters, oldsquaw(long tailed duck), harlequin and the coveted Pacific common eider. Other possible game birds encountered include Aleutian green winged teal, eurasian wigeon, common goldeneye, bufflehead, greater scaup, redbreasted merganser along with uncommon vagrants such as tufted ducks. Rock ptarmigan are found in the hills of the surrounding area. There are also many non-gamebird species to be seen such as bald eagles, stellars eider and emperor geese.

Dutch Harbor offers many protected coves and different species to hunt, making it possible to hunt most of the days and weather that Mother Nature dishes out.

Our outfitter keeps the camp small, to prevent crowded boats, and to limit the hunting pressure on the resource.
